Pileated Dance

GARNER, NC -- Kitty called me to the kitchen window on a Friday morning in October. There was a pair of male pileated woodpeckers displaying on the big pine behind the house. They chased and feinted at each other for 45 minutes before we lost sight of them as they flew from the yard.
